Doctors provide fit notes to patients after evaluating whether they are well enough to work. These notes are given once a person has been off sick for more than seven days—before that, individuals can self-certify their absence.
Based on the assessment, the doctor will indicate either that the patient is not fit for work or that they might be able to continue to work if certain changes are made. These recommendations may include adjustments to duties, hours, or the working environment.

The first 7 days of illness should be self certified. We may charge a fee if you request a note for this time period.
Looking for Return to Work?
There is no such thing as a return to work note now. We can provide fit notes to help support you back to work, for example if you are going back on a phased return, be we can not asses you as fit for work or provide specific information on what your employer must do. Please talk to your employer and ask for an occupational health assessment if you feel this is needed for you.
