STI rates in our region remain among the highest in the UK, with increasing numbers of young people aged 15 – 24 being diagnosed with infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Many STIs don’t show any symptoms, meaning infections can be passed on without realising and still cause serious long-term health problems.
